Hi All - thanks for clicking through, I would really appreciate any feedback on this idea.

Organise a trip for 8 of us and book a Pro Photographer.

Simple.

What do you think?

The fundamentals:

  1. A one week trip with a maximum 5 hour flight-time of UK:

Less disruption, no jet-lag, only one week ‘holiday’ out of our busy lives and one (or two?) locations/hotels.

  2. An interesting destination:

Sufficient subject variety to allow us all to develop as photographers and yet feels sufficiently like a cultural ‘adventure’. The emphasis should be on developing our individual creativity (and having a great time).

  3. A trip pre-planned in detail by the Pro Photographer AND the Buddy (who is one of the participants) - then:

The Pro focuses 100% on teaching / reviews etc

The Buddy is responsible for ensuring all the plans… go to plan!

  4. Appropriate accommodation:

Comfortable and clean (not necessarily luxury), a bar and communal space, and located in/near an interesting and convenient neighbourhood.

  5. A maximum of 8 participants (plus 1 x Pro)

Each participant would be paying for 1/8th of the total cost (hotel/any event costs) and 1/8th of the Pro’s fee.

Initially the Buddy would also pay their 1/8th although if the trip repeats then the Buddy could expect to have their share covered by the 7? - this would add to the cost of future trips for the 7 but there’s NO profiteering, and anyone can become a Buddy!

“remember, It’s just a few friends going away together!”

This could simply be a one off trip with like-minded friends, it could become a biannual trip, or it could evolve into a range of trips and destinations each with a rotating Pro photographer and Buddy and Group - who knows? (and it doesn’t matter at this stage).

Please let me know your thoughts…

This in no way constitutes your commitment, I’d just like to get your feedback on things like:

• Where to go? (although the Pro needs to be the main driver on this)

• How much it would be worth paying?

• Is 7 days? too long / too short?

• ANY other brighter ideas (I’m sure you have many!).

in fact, could you make a point of at least commenting on each of the 5 FUNDAMENTALS above.

THANKS EVERYONE. XX
